Miguel Cotto vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. – Who Will Win?

September 1, 2010

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs Miguel Cotto – December 4, 2010
Miguel Cotto (35-2-0) is arising off a TKO win over Yuri Foreman in June for the WBA Light Middle Weight Title.

I really liked the way Miguel Cotto looked in the Yuri Foreman fight, it was just sad the way the fight ended. I think we could of seen more of what Cotto can do at light middle weight.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0-1-1) is the son of legendary Mexican boxer Julio Cesar Chavez. Chavez Jr. most recently defeated John Duddy from Ireland in a persuading unanimous decision for the WBC Silver Middleweight Title.

Many say Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has been sheltered too much throughout his boxing career and protected from fights that could of resulted in loses for him. He has never fought anyone of Cotto’s caliber and this will be his first true boxing fight. We will finally truly see what he is capable of come December 4th.

For this fight I am picking Miguel Cotto for the win.

Who do you guys think will win the fight?

ATTENTION: This fight was cancelled.

2) Miguel Cotto decided to sit out the rest of 2010 because of lingering affects of shoulder surgery.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will face Alfonso Gomez on December 4, 2010 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

I agree, well yea the kid does have a 41-0 record but so what anybody that has followed boxing knows that don’t mean shit. This Mexican fighters campell this top notch records in Mexico but against 3rd rated fighters and ones they come to the US and step it up against top world class fighters they come short. Example Ramon Yory Boy Campas 57-0-50 ko’s was stopped by Trinidad in the 4th round. So I don’t no maybe he will put up a fight the first couple of rounds but Cotto is just going to cut him down.

ruben September 5, 2010 at 3:21 pm

MIKE September 9, 2010 at 5:53 pm

even though julio cesar chavez jr. is the son of the legendary champ, chavez jr. on the other side is just the shadow of hes dad so there is no possible way that he could win but in the boxing world anything is possible.

Nas September 11, 2010 at 5:07 pm

Mike, I agree in boxing anything can happen. I expect this to be a good fight! As for Ruben’s comment, well, I hope he doesn’t have to eat his own words cuz we like that Puerto Rican! Tiene huevos como los Mexicanos, verda, PINCHE Ruben Boricua!?

Chavez jr will win against Cotto remember Roach is his new trainer he will be a new boxer come December. .My predicton chavez knocks out Cotto in the 6th round

El Mexicano September 17, 2010 at 8:17 am

My Amigos, Chavez jr is going to KO Cotto, Cotto became a sissy fighter after Margarito destroy him, and after pacman the things came worst for cotto, please dont tell me that the fight cotto vs dr house (foreman) was a wonderful demostration of power by cotto, please let me make my prediction, CHAVEZ JR by KO before in round 10….. after that Cotto will decide to retire

ANIMOOOOOOOOO

gringofundpriet September 20, 2010 at 2:04 pm

There will never be another Julio Ceasr Chavez. Once in a liftime chance the son is to slow and does not throw as many punches as his dad. They set him up to make one good fight for the money, and then retire. Or the boxing mafia is going to pay Cotto for a fall.

COTTOFAN1 September 20, 2010 at 6:23 pm

Cotto will take this one. Please look at my boy Cotto’s previous fights. There is no question that Cotto has fought the best and gained experience of it. He was too short to beat Foreman and odds were against him and ended up beating him not by decision but by TKO! With Emanuel on his side my boy Cotto is unstoppable..please believe it!

Cottofan September 20, 2010 at 6:27 pm

PARA LOS MEXICLES, PERDON PERO COTTO VA A GANAR ESTA VEZ…YA SI FUERA CANELITO FUERA OTRA COSA….PERO ESTA SE LA DOY AL BORIQUIOA….CHAVEZ ESTA MUY CHAVALO Y NO TIENE LA EXPERIENCIA DE COTTO COMO PARA UN KNOCK OUT. COTTO ES EL QUE VA TENER EL KO O LA DECICION AL FINAL DE LA NOCHE EL 4 DE DICIEMBRE….VALE MAZ QUE LO CREAN

steve September 20, 2010 at 9:42 pm

“COTTO” ES MEJOR QUE CHAVEZ JR LAS PELEAS DE CHAVEZ JR SON AREGLADAS PELEA CON CHATAS QUE TIENEN 13 PERDIDAS COTTO LO VA A DESTRUIR MARGARITO ES CON TRAMPAS QUE GANA POR ESO MOSLEY LO KO POR PENDEJO “BORICUA” BEST IN BOXING……

Emmanuel September 24, 2010 at 1:27 pm

jerry September 24, 2010 at 7:12 pm

chavez jr will get destroyed..cotto went toe to toe for the first couple of rounds with the pacman and was doing a good job keeping up with him..but then got completely smashed .. i say cotto finishes him before the 7th round or 8th but wont last longer then that for sure.. i duno if he will be able to recover from the beating he is going to take..this is a must watch fight though..im form mexico but go cotto..he is a badass!! my second favorite fighter from pacman then 3rd is saul “canelo” alvarez

King Wess September 24, 2010 at 9:33 pm

JC Jr is going to finish Cotto’s career,Cotto was brutalized and stopped by Margarito and Pacquiao, that means Cotto is not the great fighter the whole world was expecting,Cotto is a decent fighter not a great one,so JC Jr has a lot of chance to win this fight.

3l bori September 25, 2010 at 11:31 am

mera cotto va a ganar sin duda…. ese jodio mexicano va a visitar la lona. y despues van a tener que mandarlo pal hospital. chavez vete a cojer por el culo loco retirate ya.

senior ahmedinijad September 27, 2010 at 10:23 pm

cotto has fought the tougher competition has to much power and will t.k.o. junior between the 6th to 9th round. yo soy italiano… i know boxing!………. junior is overrated with mediocre to little punching power. cotto lost to margarito cause he had a metal object which was confirmed.(you gotta cheat to beat cotto) antonio is a punk!… and pac man will destroy him in a complete bloodbath!. pac t.k.o. in round 5.

Orale September 29, 2010 at 12:48 pm

It will probably end up in a draw. There seems to be a lot of corruption now in boxing. If it ends up in a draw, idiots like me will end up watching the fight again, right?

Emmanuel September 29, 2010 at 4:55 pm

first off they are both great fighters. You have to remember one thing. Miguel cotto will never make it big in this weight class cause for one there are bigger and stronger apponents then miguel. Chavez has a good chance to win by knock out. Miguel is not known for having the best chin. Miguel cotto will be tested and I think chavez jr will win by knouck out.

borricua October 2, 2010 at 12:12 pm

DEJEME DECIRLES ALGO MEXICANOS Y BORRICUAS NO SEAN FANATICOS CON VENDAS SEAN APRECIADORES DEL BOX CHAVES NO TIENE NI UNA POSIVILIDAD DE GANAR TIENE MAS PELEAS K COTTO PERO NO FUERON CON HOMBRES DE VERDAD SOLO ES UNA NI~A DETRAS DE LAS FALDAS DE SU PAPA K LO PROTEJE TANTO K LO SUERTE Y LO DEJE SER HOMBRE.

Xavyer October 9, 2010 at 9:05 pm

Chavez Jr has 41 fights but ZERO scheduled to 12 rounds !!! What sissy fighter stills fight +40 fights in 8-10 scheduled fights ??? Great fighers like Tito Trinidad, Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Antonio Margarito, Oscar de la Hoya, and even Miguel Cotto had REAL fights within their first 20 fights… Can anyone mention 3 real boxers that Chavez Jr had beaten ??? Because for every “good” fighter that Chavez Jr had fought I can mention 3 GREAT fighters that Cotto had fought !!! Unless the Boxing Mafia do it’s part, Cotto should win this fight by unanimous desition !!! Sorry Mexicanitos but the Puertorrican will stop the overrated “legend” !!!

Bobby G October 15, 2010 at 2:16 pm

I read several of the first posts, but got tired of reading so I apologize to those who made plausable predictions and assessments.

Plain and simple, I’ve seen Chavez dance and I’ve seen Cotto fight.

Unless the fight is fixed there is no way I see Chavez coming out victorious. He is in another class.

When I heard of cotto v yuri I knew the outcome when i saw yuri in his undercard before fighting PAC man.

Chavez is better suited against a fighter like yuri. Cotto will outbox Chavez. Fair and sqaure.

pacquiao vs margarito October 27, 2010 at 12:13 am

What round?
Bet it?

Pls watch the fight of Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito
this fight will be one of the greatest fight in the world.
Who will you bet to win? Maybe Manny will knock Antonio in the
4 – 6 round i guess…
Watch it guys and support your player..
thnx

atonio October 27, 2010 at 8:36 pm

vdv36 November 14, 2010 at 7:30 am

You guys have to relax on the Puerto Rican and Mexican trash talking that shit is getting old…. let it be about boxing… It’s offensive knowing how ignorant Hispanics can be… this is why the Hispanic race will always be in a minority class!!!! grow the F up… and Cotto is no ones son!!! stupidest shit I’ve ever read… as for the fight… Cotto in 11….

pinshebeto November 14, 2010 at 8:37 am

H Estrella March 3, 2011 at 2:02 am

Anyone who knows boxing, knows that Chavez jr does not have the skills and the hunger that his father had. Senor Chavez fought out of poverty and ghettos as most champions do. Chavez jr has been rich and pampered his whole life. Cotto has been in some gut wrenching blood fights. Mexicans have won more World Champions because they have more fighters in all light weight divisions. Anyone who rises up in the rankings has to come accross and fight many mexican fighters. Mexican fighters occupy a land base of Mexico, Texas, California, Neveda, Arizona, etc.
Puerto Rican fighters on the other hand have won more of the big World Champion fights involving the two groups. Very few fighters come out of Puerto Rico or New York, Jersey, etc because there are far few people. Puerto Rico has done well for an area of only 350 square miles to produce many world class champions.
My hats off to both groups that have shown the world that boxing is a latino sport. We both have done well for the sport.

Tito Tumbao March 13, 2011 at 10:50 pm

Wow… thank you estrella FOR bringing peace to this Mexican Puerto Rican War Lmao! You said the smartest thing out of all these crazy people! Lol thank u for giving my island credit but also explaining why PR and Mex are the best boxing capitals of the world! It’s not about being Mexican or Puerto Rican its about being Latino! The world would be boring without people like Vicente Fernández or Daddy Yankee or julio césar Chávez or Jennifer lopez or even that cheating bastard margarito but I admit things like that is what makes boxing interesting the face and the heels the good guys and the bad guys the margarito’s of boxing and the Cotto’s of boxing the heros like Paquiao and the Shit talkers and chickens like mayweather let’s not forget the most dramatic fighter that Cotto just retired Ricardo mayorga! LOL but anyways in reality life would be boring without rivals like Mexico and Puerto Rico but in the end we are equally respected by the world as great fighters and warriors! Boxing will die if it didn’t have countries like these making it this interesting! Que viva el boxeo y que viva los Latinos!!!
