Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley – Good or Bad?

January 4, 2011

Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley – May 7, 2011
Hardcore boxing fans are not to happy about Manny Pacquiao’s next match up fight with Sugar Shane Mosley. And they have reason to be upset, Shane Mosley (39 years old) is way past his prime and has not produced an exciting boxing match in years. Mosley’s last two fight’s have been horrible and he has shown all the signs of an aging fighter. In his (Mosley) fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. we saw his lack of stamina and the amount of punches he throws. Although he did hurt Mayweather Jr. in the second round he did not have the strength or stamina to finish him off. Then you have his (Mosley) fight with Sergio Mora which was hard to watch and boring. In the fight there were more people booing than cheering.

Unless someone I know orders this Pay Per View fight, I am going to wait till they rerun it the following week on cable. I will not waist my money on this bullshit fight. This has to be one of the worst Manny Pacquiao match ups to date. But that wont stop Top Rank and Bob Arum to hype up and sell us on the fight, they will show us video clips of Mosley’s highlights and him hurting Mayweather Jr. trying to make us believe as if Mosley has a chance against Pacquiao. And guess what, the casual boxing fan will fall for it and purchase the PPV fight. Boxing matches like these (Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley) is what’s hurting the sport of boxing.

Manny Pacquiao advisor admits Shane Mosley fight will gas out quick

Below is video of Manny Pacquiao advisor Michael Koncz even admitting the fight will only be competitive for 5 rounds. Which I think they are giving way too much credit to Shane Mosley, he will be out of breath by the third round. I see Shane Mosley playing “Freeze Tag” (if you’ve seen Mosley’s latest fights you know what I mean) with Manny Pacquiao for the entire fight. I predict Sugar Shane Mosley corner stopping the fight early.

Manny Pacquiao (52-3-2 38 KO)
Shane Mosley (46-6-1 38 KO)

This fight will be taking place at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

I really wanted to see Pacquaio whip Mosley’s butt so I guess I’m going to order a PPV for this fight. I totally agree with you, though, and that this is just another ‘money in the bag’ agenda for Mosley. He does NOT have a chance in putting down Pacquiao.

KPO Philippines January 18, 2011 at 12:20 am

My bet would be on Manny. Saying that he’s good – an understatement. He’s a great boxer!

awax123 January 18, 2011 at 7:23 pm

Do i think that this fight will be the best fight for manny..well.. you never know..really i wanna see mayweather and him just like the rest of the world want to see but i dont think it will happen cuz gayweather wont fight..

ronnie corbett January 20, 2011 at 10:48 am

shane mosley stinks, he should of retired years ago pacquiao will whop his black ass within 5 rounds

Brian E. January 20, 2011 at 1:05 pm

Who wrote this article? First of all Shane Mosley is not past his prime.
Mayweather makes everyone look bad just ask JMM. Second Serigo
Mora is a former champion in the middleweight or Light middleweight division, you don’t become champ by being weak so lets give Mora credit. Third shane would destroy Erik Morales JMM and Marco antonio Barrera, yeah Shane lost to Cotto but that’s when Cotto was unbeaten and nobody really wanted to fight him. So don’t give me that crap he lost to Cotto!!! Styles make fights and mosley is a very good boxer I can’t wait to see mosley kick Pac’s butt and say I told you all so and you call yourselves
experts what a joke! Every is so cought up in Pac that they can’t see this is the worst type of fight for Pac. If he couldn’t hurt clotty how in the hell is he going to hurt Mosley who brings the pain I putting my money on mosley and I am going to Laugh at you Pac Fans!!!!

Ali Abbasi January 21, 2011 at 12:56 pm

I completely agree with you bro, this is going to be a boring ass fight, manny needs to fight mayweather, thats the fight that need to happen, thats the fight that everyone wants to see, but now mayweather has gotten in trouble and he wont be fighting anytime soon. At least manny should choose to fight andrea berto an undeafted welterweight who would make an intresting fight, but manny chooses someone at the bottom of the ladder agian like he chose clottey. Like you said boxing is suffering cuase of this and dump ass fans are going to purchase this super crapy fight.

MrRicardez January 21, 2011 at 7:05 pm

Unlike most people out there, I give Mosley a good chance of beating – if not, ,knocking Pacquiao out.

Manny has been matched up really well these last few fights and allthough he’s been winning, Manny has taken some punishment as he’s moved up in weight. Pac hasn’t fought anyone as fast as Mosley since his days under 140lbs and he’s never fought anyone that can punch as hard as Mosley. If someone as slow and plodding as Margarito can damage Pacquiao, no doubt that Shane can land a few good shots. The question for will be, can Manny handle Shane’s power… and can Shane keep up with Manny’s output?

But if Pac is the aggressor, like he usually is, he is going to have to give up that ground to land against Shane. And I can see Mosley landing the same sneaky left hook that KO’ed Margarito, Mayorga, and Vargas, when Pac drops that right hand coming in… or after one of his trademark flurries (and he drops that right ALL THE TIME).

Manny is taking this fight because he feels Mosley is way past his prime and while it’s true that Mosley isn’t the figher he used to be, Pac’s defense has holes and Shane still has enough natural gifts to get the job done. Could be an upset.

(By the way, Clottey has always been a LEGIT contender, so that last comment was bunk)

david January 23, 2011 at 9:45 pm

It could be boring. Or it could be like ricky hatton fight. Another glorious ko for pacman to put in the highlight reel

nhen January 27, 2011 at 4:38 pm

Shane has good power and is naturally a strong athlete but his real strength lies in his excellent body punching. This aligns perfectly with Pacquiao’s most obvious weakness.

defender January 31, 2011 at 1:12 am

shane mosley can’t beat manny pacquiao he can’t even hurt cotto look at what manny did to cotto even floyd has no chance of winning against manny he is hell scared of pacquiao he can’t even met in the ring cotto and margarito because they will beat him so after mosley floyd i don’t think so but if the two of them face it’s manny for me

tquarius norwood March 2, 2011 at 10:26 am

I dnt understand why people shit on mosley like he wasn’t one of the best pound for pound boxers before he is def no slouch. manny last couple of fights have been very suspect he fought people that previous boxers have already beating (not to take anything from manny) but he hasn’t been fighting any real competition. they always want to bring up mosley last fight with mayweather but honestly what fighter has honestly put any pressure on mayweather and his defense is superb so mosley loosing that fight was not becuase he lost stamina but it was becuase he knows that aggressive styles do not fluster mayweather so he tried to box with him in which you still can’t do becuase thats his game. Manny knows mosley can hurt him so if anybody is going to make it a boring fight its him becuase he doesnt have the power to knock mosley out mosley only ben down one time in his career and that was years ago. mosley wins by descion with a chance of a knockout

manny March 2, 2011 at 2:10 pm

i think every fight that manny pacquiao my favorite fighter in boxing history is a good fight i just like watching him fight if the mayweather and pacquiao does not happen so be it but pacquiao will come out with his hand raise against mosely

A-Beatz of WTNRRADIO March 3, 2011 at 8:23 am

If I were a betting man (and had a few grand to possibly lose) I would bet on Mosley. He is the sure underdog…but you just never know. This could be that 1 last fight in him and Pacquaio could be off his game and that makes for a perfect storm and a major upset…and bettors could rack up on some great odds. I say Mosley in 8. Who thought Buster Douglas would KO Tyson?

Pac Man Fan March 7, 2011 at 5:27 pm

I totally agree with Pacquiao’s camp, Mosley will run out of air very quickly making this another KO for Pac Man

honestly March 8, 2011 at 3:38 am

Tell manny to stop taking the steroids so we can see the fight that everyone wants to see. It’s a easy and simple solution! From the looks of it manny is ducking money may.

Pacquiao vs Mosley March 13, 2011 at 12:52 am

Manny Pacquiao has the necessary tools to beat Sugar Shane Mosley; however, he has to impress the fans in the process if he wants to keep hopes alive for a possible match-up between him and Mayweather Jr. Mosley will be struggling with age, odds, and stamina problems knowing well that this maybe his last chance at the top level. Mosley has beaten the odds before but Pacquiao is no ordinary opponent. The elements involved in this fight, bring up the same interrogatives I have about Pacquiao’s extraordinary abilities and while Mosley always tends to defy the odds, Pacquiao defies logic.

runner1 March 16, 2011 at 2:14 pm

I quite agree. Pacquiao Vs Mosley…boring. Mosely doesn’t have any chance of beating Pacquiao….With Floyd Mayweather now that’s really something. I’m waiting to see that fight.

jeff borbon March 18, 2011 at 2:55 pm

who knows mosley might come up with a lucky shot that can knock out pacquiao ,i know that in powerball the odd is way high but still someone can win it. (lucky shot is only mosleys chance of winning)

Greg Calalang March 21, 2011 at 8:30 pm

In the first three rounds I think Mosley will try to get an opening and throw that left and right to the body of Manny. But Manny as usual will be too quick and can get out very fast out of it. In the middle of the 12 rounds Mosley would be tiring and Pacquiao will unleash his power of combinations that will hurt Mosley through out the 12 rounds.

Charles March 22, 2011 at 8:27 pm

who the hell has Pacquiao fought? and how many catch weights do these fighters have to agree on? Lets be for real about this so called boxing it’s all about making a champion or a star without proving any of the fighting that make a great boxer, Manny is the biggest fake i have ever seen. you talk about a boring fight, yes it will be after Shane beats the crap out of him and all of a sudden everyone starts doubting just how good Manny appeared to be, Cotto please, who the hell is he?another fake. for those of you who want to see the biggest knock out of manny get this fight and your going to see that manny was a fake.

Indio March 23, 2011 at 2:04 pm

This is just a mayweather and Mosley agreement. I bet if pacman has a slight problem with Mosley then we might see a floyd n manny meeting. But if manny straight demolishes Shane then mayweather wil probably bitch out like he’s been doing

xjar March 24, 2011 at 11:28 pm

Boxing fans will be surprised to see a flash knockdown from Mosely, however,it will piss off Pacman. If Mosely maintains his composure, not to stand toe to toe,we will get to see the Paq go into a reserved asskicking mode for Mosely. Finally by the 6th Mosely will come undone and Paq is again victorious.

asiannasty.twitter.com March 30, 2011 at 7:30 pm

Manny pacquiao has been in various weight divisions the last 3 fights and have managed to build up his stamina each fight. It would really be ridiculous if Mosley wins this fight. I’m calling 9 rounds.

Yako March 31, 2011 at 7:47 pm

PacMan is too smart of a fighter, and too well prepared. Shane will gas out by the 5-6 round for sure. Shane will land some punches on PacMan, in the first 3 rounds. 4th round comes along he isn’t going to be punching as much, he is going to be saving his energy tryin to dodge and weave away. 5th round comes along and pacman is going to dominate the fight. Win by tko or ko.

Manny always has a good camp before a fight and he proves it time and time again.

ray solano April 2, 2011 at 3:56 pm

this is bullshit fight, why manny taking this kind of risk if he lose this fight he’s career is over and mayweather will embarrased him and he will not fight him anymore.

richard gerola April 2, 2011 at 10:48 pm

Mosley has absolutely no chance. Stay home before you risk permanent injury

jimmy April 3, 2011 at 9:56 am

I agree… we know boxing fans all over the world looking for good fights and fighters. we choose Manny and Maywether enough to deliver good fight, but we couldn’t because mayweather hiding under the bed. whatever shane is brave enough to face the challenge.

Will April 3, 2011 at 3:55 pm

Im with the person who started this post. Real boxing fans like myself would not pay a dime for this fight. Its a shame what boxing has become, Its hard to get the top guys to fight each other, they all want to wait until there rival is to old and out of there prime so they can beet them and say there the best. I have always been a big boxing fan but lately i have had to turn to MMA ( mixed martial arts ) UFC, Strickforce, K1 Global, etc. These guys like to stand up and punch more than taking the fight to the ground. It does help that they offer A Knock Out Bonus. The one thing i have really grown to like about MMA is that the best fight the best on every venue. There is no Mayweather ducking and hiding but calling yourself the best. Boxing please get your sh#t together.

Madness April 3, 2011 at 11:36 pm

Pacquiao is juicing and has been for some time. It will all come out some day. As an athlete who gained 50 lbs from his teens to his early twenties, I can understand getting larger early on in a person’s lifespan. But as a boxer who has been going up in weight increasing his frame and becoming faster well after his body had developed in his teens. I am calling bs. Either he is a freak of nature or he is juicing. I am willing to bet everything it is the latter. This cat is a good fighter but he isn’t on the up and up. There is a reason, other cats were whipping his ass at lighter weights. Pacquiao and his trainer got wise and started juicing. Of course I don’t know that for sure, but I am willing to bet he is every bit a Lance Armstrong or Barry Bonds when it comes to his “training”. The curtain will be pulled back soon enough.

patrick April 4, 2011 at 6:07 am

Damn, not another Manny fight that is chosen because Arum . wants a safe fight !!! bring on Berto , or Bradley. This is another De la Hoya rerun, A great fighter 10 years past his prime . I just watched A food commercial here in the Philppines showing Mannny KO a black guy.. give me a break ..SUCH B.S.

Bonifacio B. Cabalan April 6, 2011 at 1:53 am

If there will be a third match between Pacquiao and Marquez, Pacquiao will win handily if they will fight in welterweight division. However, if they will slug it out in super featherweight, I am sure Manny will lose. For this reason, for a third fight to happen between these two great boxers, it is like shooting at the moon to have this happen. JMM has no chance against Manny in the welterweight division based on his performance against Mayweather. If JMM and fans insist he can be competitive to fight Manny in the welterweight, let him fight first either Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito or Joshua Clottey and if if wins, he will be given a chance to fight Manny.

gabe April 6, 2011 at 11:40 am

this fight is a slap in the face to Manny. Mosley’s coming off a loss and a draw and is fighting possibly P4P the best fighter of all time. no dis respect to Mosley but he’s not the same fighter he was a few years back. if he was in his prime this would of been fight of the DECADE hands down but Mosley’s to old. This cards all about the paycheck

gabe April 6, 2011 at 11:46 am

@madness Manny isnt on roids think about it he put on 50lbs that might be a big deal if he did it in a year or two but the guy put it on over a course of 10 years which isnt a big deal thats like 5lbs a year. and the guy trains like a animal and he got faster doesnt mean he’s on roids sergio martinez is 37 a middle weight champ and fast as hell and he’s not doing them manny’s ripped not big

Juan Terrazas April 6, 2011 at 6:57 pm

Been fallowing Manny PAC Man for a while now and Im confident that he will take Shane Mosley down on May 7 we will be cheering for u Manny

Pacquiao vs Mosley April 7, 2011 at 5:29 am

A lot of fans and pundits knows this fight will not surprise them all but this fight will draw a lot of money for both networks and promoters because it’s Pacquiao who is fighting the much bigger opponent again. So many but not all will watch the Manny Pacquiao vs Shane Mosley fight.

Jesus April 7, 2011 at 11:30 am

Mayweather Jr is a puss boy he is scared of Pacquiao

jimmy April 9, 2011 at 3:01 am

why r t hese so-called boxing fans dissing this match between Mosley and Pacquiao. This is Manny’s toughest opponent to date, despite Mosley’s age .Styles make fights…how can anyone compare Mora with Manny. Mayweather and Mosley’s fight was a good fight till Sugar Shane ran out of gas and lost his confidence, same thing could happen in this fight, except Manny could be in serious trouble if he gets tagged the way Mayweather was early in their last fight and that could be the end of Manny ,unless Manny’s chin is as hard as Mayweather..Manny has to b aware of Sugar’s speed and power otherwise it could b an early nite .

chris chung April 9, 2011 at 10:47 am

I hope this doesn’t turn out to be the springboard for a three fight, “Rubber Match of the Century” staging. Mosely is nearing Foreman’s charismatic comeback age, and Pacquiao has no marketable opponents (who aren’t currently facing battery charges). I predict Mosely will walk into the ring as an underdog version of Apollo Creed, American flag and all.

Manny’s no bad guy. However, when the United States of America cannot find an enemy, we seem to be very good at creating one. No, no, no. Manny’s not a bad guy. He’s just not as American as Shane.

Bluntly, this is how I would market this fight (as the first of three). If Moseley “surprises” Vegas by beating Pacquiao, a rematch would be imminent. A second, and third fight would draw huge ratings.

soymi April 11, 2011 at 7:23 pm

mostly good analyses but the real truth is manny has nobody good to fight anymore.i mean somebody who cud show a fairly good fight and will turn in some cash in the ticket booth at the same time.now, after finishing mosley, let’s just wait for mayweather to finally decide to fight manny and let him prove that he is better.

JayR April 12, 2011 at 7:24 pm

I don’t think this fight is as bad as everybody is making it. I see it as another chance to prove that he is the better boxer between Mayweather Jr. by comparing each others’ fights. Also remember when Bernard Hopkins told ESPN that Pacquiao has never faced a “black boxer”. So I see it as an opportunity to show Hopkins and the world he can out box a “hood” stlye.

chuck April 12, 2011 at 10:12 pm

the people who are trying to say shane is really a tough fight for manny are kidding themselves. one person even had the nerve to say manny doesnt have the power to hurt shane.shane is past his prime and no longer a tough fight for manny. the people who are saying that manny has no one left to fight are also kidding themselves. what about berto? berto is a game opponent. thats the fight i would like to see.

MPacquiao April 13, 2011 at 12:35 pm

At first, it seems Mosley is not worthy to fight Manny Pacquiao because of his age and considered as past of his prime. But with his serious dedication and willingness to knockout Manny, I believe that this fight is good and classic.

bob kano April 13, 2011 at 6:01 pm

Damn, I really wanted to see pacquiao kick Mayweather’s ass

scott April 14, 2011 at 12:03 am

Love mosely. Always have.

Loved dela Hoya more.

Mosely is dela hoyas boy.

Look what pacman did to Oscar though.

Nuff said.

Ant45405 April 14, 2011 at 7:34 am

I think Berto or Bradley would best for pac. Mosley may provide entertainment may 7. But I don’t think so. Manny will win on cards if he doesn’t KO. Bring on pac vs Beryl/Bradley. Maybe even d. Alexander. But after Bradley handed his ass to him, he may not be all the way there emotionally. He was feeling hut after that fight. No hand.

ethel mendoza April 14, 2011 at 6:59 pm

I am a Filipina and I believe Manny can beat Mosley. Then after that one more fight with Mayweather and Our Manny will just stay in His Mansion and do his job.

KikoMachine April 15, 2011 at 2:16 am

Pacquiao’s most obvious weakness? He doesn’t have one! His body his weakness? Have you seen his training? Caning his abs to make it pain resistant.

Mosley was an excuse for Pacquiao to make money. That’s it. I wouldn’t even patronize it so promoters lose money and perhaps they get forced to make the pacquiao-mayweather fight happen so they gain back what they loss. My prediction, down by 2 or 3 rounds or stopped by ref or mosley’s corner by 4 or 5.

Fight April 15, 2011 at 7:51 pm

Please place your bet to Mosley if you think Pacquiao is not a best boxer today. Bet, even the last centavo on what you have.

Rudy April 16, 2011 at 6:50 pm

Yes you are right but exciting fight this pacqiao is a holly god warrior he help all the poor he also fity to his opponent some times you observe his punch the paster cros punch in the face

Cavg April 16, 2011 at 11:40 pm

Ha ha you wrote waist of money. Nobody on this board knows how to spell. Just thought it was funny sorry. Ya, this fight is whack. Boxing is whack. Pacquiao wins easy. He’s just making money to build a hospital like the guy said in the video. Good for him.

tonycruz April 17, 2011 at 3:39 am

mossley is still competative but manny will prevail , gayweather should start
thinking seriously to fight manny , otherwise manny will no longer interested to fight him after all the millions he have , and gayweather will be left penniless after all the legal issues he have with no more manny to fight him.

manuel pena April 17, 2011 at 11:26 am

I Will see Pacquiao fight, he is the greatest of all time since JOE LOUIS

rafterq April 17, 2011 at 10:55 pm

I expect it to be like watching the Chavez / Camacho fight of ’92…only up side would be the joy of watching Pac knock Mosley out.

Always Right April 18, 2011 at 1:34 am

Mosley upset if the One hit lands.

If not, Manny by KO, Decision, or Towel from Mosley.

If Mosley wins Mayweather will Never fight Pac. (No Point)

If Pac wins, Mayweather will set up fight date. (Fact)

Gregorio Marquez April 19, 2011 at 3:09 am

I would say that Mosley has a good chance. Hes a good boxer, dedicated and determined to beat manny, not like mayweather whos afraid and hiding under his coconut shell

Nico April 19, 2011 at 7:05 pm

I predict that Manny will outclass Mosley. Mosley is probably the fastest fighter that Manny has ever faced but he lacks stamina. Though, he has lightning-fast hands, Mosley lacks footwork which Manny is great at. Manny also has blinding hand speed which makes them even. It just means that Manny can get in and out of a total slug fest, while Mosley can only stand in front of a toe-to-toe fight. Though Mosley is physically bigger and stronger than Manny, Pac can fight all night long and will probably wear out Mosley by round 7

john April 20, 2011 at 7:34 am

I will pick Manny Pacquiao to win this fight. It will be a 9-10 round stoppage for pacquiao. PacMan is the greatest boxer in the world baby! Mosley has no chance of winning. Mosley is boasting that he will ko pacquiao. It’s to impossible to happen coz mosley is old. Look at mosley’s fight with Mora and Mayweather. He and Mora is draw, so disgusting, even PacMan can ko Mora and Money Badweather but he didn’t. But i’m not underestimating Mosley. And for your information, Manny doesn’t use Steroids!

zoraida April 20, 2011 at 10:24 am

I like both of them but i have to say that im going for Pac man

G April 20, 2011 at 12:44 pm

I think it’s going to be a good fight. Mosley is not past his prime. Everyone says that because of the Mayweather fight but one of the announcers at the fight (Emanuel Stuart I think) said that Mosley lost steam because he over trained. Mosley was set to fight Berto (I think Mosley would have beat him) then it got cancelled, then a very short time later he fought Money. I’m Flipino and of course I’m going to root for Pac but Mosley is going to give him a hard time. I also notice that Pac likes to test out his opponents by letting them hit him a couple of times (yes, he’s said this and I’m not reading into what he does in the ring). If he does that with Mosley, he’s going to get hurt. Good luck to both of them and stop hating on Mosley unless YOU’re ready to get in the ring with him.

THEHURTLOCKER April 20, 2011 at 3:00 pm

Listen here you bunch of Philibeans, all of you are a pack of fools.
You guys just started watching boxing because of Manny. What other fighter do you guys know. That’s right NONE!. You guys aren’t even real boxing fans so why shoul your opinions matter. Stick to being Rice Conosieurs or eating rotting eggs with a fetus in them.

GruntUSMC April 21, 2011 at 2:31 am

The hurt locker is the gayest movie of all time

JESSE SMITH April 21, 2011 at 11:21 am

OK MOSLEY IS A ALRIGHT FIGHTER IN THE PAST BUT NO HE IS CRAP MANNY IS GOING TO KILL HIM…. AND FOR U MAYWETHER FANS MANNY WILL KILL HIM TO PRETTY BOY FLOYD DONT GET HIT ENOUGH TO FIGHT MANNY U SAW WHAT HAPPEN WHEN HE FOUGHT MOSLEY AND GOT HIT IMAGINE HIM GETTING HIT LIKE THAT FOR 5 ROUNDS HE WILL FALL AND NOT GET BACK UP MANNY IS BOXING AND THE MOMMENT

What's Going Down April 21, 2011 at 1:18 pm

@Hurtlocker…..

What kinda racist loser are you? “Philibeans”…..I’m not even Flippino and I can say they are great boxing fans…..ever since the greatest boxing match ever……Ali vs Fraser. Your comments just show how ignorant and dumb you are……..

What a hyprocrite….saying their opinions should matter, claiming a stupid argument that they love boxing only cause of Manny and then insult them…..Your a loser hyprocrite; probably either a premature 12 year old or you yourself were a target of insults and now feel a need to attack others. Pathetic. Grow up or grow a pair.

I call Pac to win either by KO in the 7th or by decision if it goes 12. The first 5 rounds should be good.

RightX April 21, 2011 at 8:27 pm

I agree “What’s Going Down”. Filipinos have always enjoyed boxing, it is in their history…it is invoked in their pride through multiple colonialism, especially by the Spaniards…get them tempers flared up, just watch Real Madrid fans! Filipino’s, Mexican’s and Spaniard’s all share a temper and PRIDE….but at the end a love and devotion to their craft.

I have been fortunate in my short lifespan to witness 3 great players: Michael Jordan, Pac Mann and Tiger Woods. Yes Tiger Woods is the greatest “playa” of all time=)

RightX April 21, 2011 at 8:36 pm

To “Chuck” Berto just got his @ss whooped by V-Ortiz. Obviously your one of the million casual fans.

At the end, Manny brings the fight. As much as people dawg on him, he brings it…that is what prize fighting is all about. He always brings it…bar none hands down. Why do you think that some of his closest friends are the ones who he’s battled with in the ring…that is respect!

RightX April 21, 2011 at 8:42 pm

“Hurtlocker” obviously you’ve been gang raped by a bunch of “manong’s”! Ignorant u are and obviously you don’t know you’re boxing history. Yup, rotting fetus…too bad your mama was not smart enough that you were a rotting fetus when she got knocked-up at the back alley.

RightX April 21, 2011 at 8:46 pm

To “Will” why don’t u go put on a b-dazzled “Tap Out” shirt and show how tuff u r, like the rest of the wanna-b’z

RightX April 21, 2011 at 8:49 pm

To “Will” who has Pac duck’d???????? U r obviously a re-tar. Mosely is smart…he took the fight for his retirement $$$ knowing he will lose. His wife is raping him off of the divorce.

gummyboy April 22, 2011 at 2:35 pm

woow HURTLOCKER.I can see where the hurt is all coming from.that was some pretty nasty thing to say,the war in Iraq must’ve gotten real bad in your puny head. goes to show us filipinos are tougher than you are because we can eat BALOt and with rice on it and you can’t even drink atleast the juice of it…

with regards to the fight, guys it’s drop dead obvious;manny will win but come on,stop predicting the round because we dont know that..

I’m not exactly that much of a pacquiao fan ever since he entered politics but he is way better than mosley by a mile..i just hope mosley can atleast hurt him and give a good fight so that we can still assume that he is beatable..

Enjoy the Fight April 23, 2011 at 5:45 am

Look, there’s no possible way of dancing around the fact that Pacquiao is an undisputable favorite in this fight. It’s EXTREMELY unlikely that Sugar Shane’s stamina can handle playing tag with Pacquiao for more than 5 or 6 rounds. To predict Mosley will win this fight is just somebody wanting to lay all their chips down because they’re one of those people who gets off on saying “I told you so!!”
But the fact of the matter is this:
Anybody in here who tells you they would have predicted Buster Douglas was going to knock out Mike Tyson is full of sh*t.
Anybody in here who claims they could foresee George Foreman putting his gloves back on to win a belt at 45 is equally full of sh*t.
Does Mosley have a chance to win this fight? Of course he does. But there’s no avoiding the fact that it’s going to have to happen pre-round 5. Everyone knows Mosley has a heavy hand and can work the body, but he’s not going to have enough rounds in him for body work to take Manny’s legs out. He’s going to have to wait for PacMan’s characteristic tendency of dropping his right when he goes in or moves forward. Anybody here who claims to follow Pacquiao is a phony if they claim Manny isn’t prone to doing this. Mosley has to pick a good spot early on that won’t allow his opponent to counter with a flurry of offensive defense. Pick that spot, and throw his nasty hook, and Mosley can undoubtedly knock out Pacquiao. Slim, slim odds though Shane. Too bad you couldn’t be 5 years younger in this fight.

Hey you Hurtlocker! FYI there were already Filipino world champion boxers even before you were born. You should know this if you are really a knowledgeable boxing fan. Keep your mouth shut or better in your locker or eat rotten eggs with fetus in it.

Good Point, Bad Article April 23, 2011 at 9:57 am

I love how at the end of the article it has “Even Pac’s adviser says the fight will only be competitive for 5 rounds!” This article makes good points, but this guy is an awful sports writer. Of course that guy said that, he’s PacMan’s adviser. What do you think he would say? “Hmm..not sure if our guy can win this one, Mosley’s just too good!”
If somebody’s on your crew or in your corner, obviously they’re going to talk about all the reasons you’ll win the fight, and all the reasons the other guy will lose it. Stupid.
Every time someone in a boxer’s crew predicts a win, does anyone actually run that as evidence the boxer will win?
Every time an NFL coach guarantees a win in the playoffs or a trip to the Superbowl, should we run that as proof they’re going to do it? If so, somebody should tell Rex Ryan to watch his mouth.
This is why this guy will always be a blogger and never be a writer. Horribly amateur work.

Boxing Fan April 26, 2011 at 2:16 pm

God Bless you Manny, About the fight, attitude, mind set, courage and punches from all angles is what imo makes Manny one of the greatest fighters you’ll ever see in the ring. He’ll be remembered with the best of the best when he’s done baby, I hope he doesn’t over stay his welcome like the mistakes most fighters have done in the past. Surely age, out of your prime, getting out of shape will get you beat sooner or later if you don’t know when to quit, youth will prevail eventually. Good luck to you old man, I mean Shane, lol. Shane you have always been great to watch in the ring too.Manny when your body doesn’t allow you to fight your fight which is punching from all angles, your trade mark imo, retire my friend, it’s been great watching through out your career.

AJB330 April 26, 2011 at 10:17 pm

Yea you’re right this isn’t going to be an exciting fight… Of course as boxing fans we know this already. But it’s what we are getting out of the fight. Will pacquiao run through mosley as he did with hatton and continue to punish mayweathers left overs. I think the fight is great its only aimed at mayweather and his camp saying we can’t reach an agreement for our bout but I’m more than happy to take your sloppy seconds and embarass them far more than you ever will you! Its a call out and I think its brilliant. Pacquiao knocks out mosley or its stopped and there’s no need for controversey pacquiao is best pound for pound fighter, look back at the fights or at least who they fought in the past 5 yrs. And there’s the answer.

AJB330 April 26, 2011 at 10:57 pm

And come on guys, honestly where has happened to boxing? There’s been a ton of great fights and fighters. You ppv branded boxing fans is what’s taking away from the sport. Berto vs ortiz an awesome exciting fight showing the unpredictability of what’s to come with these up and coming fighters. Or what about amir kahn vs marcos maidana. And let’s not leave out sergio martinez who had the best KO out last year over paul williams. And keep in mind all these guys are one weight class away from each other. Boxings headed in a good direction its just not always on PPV being viewed at your local bar or buffalo wild wings.

Lord Kayoss April 27, 2011 at 11:50 am

I personally feel Mosley has a chance. He fights the type of style that Pacquiao will play right into, and vice versa. Two guys coming in and throwing punches. It has the makings of Pac/Cotto, only on a shorter scale with Mosley’s age. Mosley hasn’t put on a good fight on years? He terminated Margarito not that long ago in an entertaining fight, at least in my view. I agree that this fight should not be taking place before Pac/Mayweather. But, since Mayweather is trying to pull a Ray Leonard and wait till Manny slows down so he can have a better chance to run around all night and out-slick him, we might as well see two guys who like to fight go at it. I predict Manny will win this one, but it may not be as easy as a lot of people think.

Most experts are expecting Mosely to tire after 4, 5 6 rounds but respect his toughness to be able to stay in the fight. Pacquiao’s ability to move, throw punches from all angles and fitness should see him win. But both will at some stage go toe to toe and Mosely does have the speed and power to hurt Pacquiao. The big IF is whether he can do it early enough and then follow up. Pacquiao moves as well as anyone but both these guys like to get in there and mix it up. Stand there long enough and either one could go down. A win won’t see Pacquiao add to his legacy, thats already without question, he will go down as one of, if not the greatest P4P boxers ever. Be nice to see Mosely win, just to show he still can do it at his age. As a fan of both fighters and boxing my reality says Pacquiao but I expect Mosely to be tough enough and stubborn enough to go the distance.
@AJB330- Hatton and DeLa Hoya were neither in the form nor shape against Pacquiao as they were against Mayweather so it was natural that Pacquiao would demolish them. I think Patton and especially DeLa Hoya were looking for one last payday. Pacquiao will go down as an all time great as I said , maybe even best P4P, but until him and Mayweather fight the point is moot who is the best. People can go on all they like about who faced who and who beat who and how they did it, but reality, and without the emotion that both fighters fans have in discussions like these, tell me until they fight you will never know who is better.

rasu April 30, 2011 at 3:40 am

i can see on dis blog ther is,and ther ll always be those kind of blinded pacman fans..what u cant see is this comin one is gona kick manny s ass coz he s special,no need to b young and superstar to whup a future looser

Ptr. Nixon April 30, 2011 at 5:14 am

I want you all know guys and the world! I presumed, that the hands of God is in Manny Pacquiao. The world didn’t realized that. Manny is a God-fearing man, kneeling down to the Lord inside the ring before the fight. Well that’s honoring the Creator of the universe, the creator of strength, the creator of speed and the creator of popularity. therefore, i conclude that Manny will win every fight inside the boxing ring. And i declare Shane Mosely will be defeated in TKO! Mabuhay ka Manny! Mabuhay ang Pilipino! Mabuhay ka Freddie Roach! Purihin ang Diyos! PRAISE THE LORD!

RamBo April 30, 2011 at 7:20 am

In 3 rounds… Boom! the black Ass Down! Mosley is way past his prime. Look at his boxing records…Mosley’s last two fight’s have been horrible and he has shown all the signs of an aging fighter. He should retire!

wilfredo diaresco April 30, 2011 at 11:12 am

surely no other boxer can match the modern david in our time…tell me more shane….make ur day now ,till i see u kiss on the canvass…

pat April 30, 2011 at 12:55 pm

i think both fighters here some both good and bad qualities. Manny is quick and adjusted, as well as a show boat[ which i think will cost him this fight]
Mosely is expierenced, with good fight skills…might be one of his last fights…idk….however if he can keep his hands up and keep movin, i think he will surprise everyone.
My prediction is tht manyy will be knocked out by the 4th round

El papi April 30, 2011 at 1:57 pm

How can you talk about Sugar shane mosley like that. like some other dude say Mayweather make anyone looks bad. he is out of this league. anyways. This fight would be similar like the erik morales and marcos maidana. Anyone thought maidana was going to destroy the older mexican legend, and to the surprise morales could of won that fight. so NEVER NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A BOXER, UPSETS ARE REAL.

galileo April 30, 2011 at 2:34 pm

Speed, skills and strength will dominate this fight. Pacquiao is too much for the 40 year old Shane Mosley. I like Shane, he was a champion himself and unlike previous opponents of Pacquiao who did nothing but trashed-talk before facing Pacman on the ring, the end result is a brutal beating from the Pacman. Shane is not a trash-talking guy. Shane just be yourself. Fight the Pacman with everything you’ve got. The great and humble Pacman will go to the ring once again and will show us a great fight. So, no matter how much criticism either of these two fighters get, it doesn’t matter. What matters is what we’ll all see inside the ring comes Saturday May 7th. This is boxing, a sport we all love and it’s a business. May the best man win! like Pacquiao always say.

Tambiga, cristam April 30, 2011 at 9:09 pm

This is a great fight for now since mayweather will not fight to manny.so let see the scattered.

Bryna May 1, 2011 at 11:29 am

we have faith that manny will win…God bless you manny.

Pinoy May 1, 2011 at 11:33 am

Viva filipinas!!!! Manny will win he’s a good boxer. …, mabuhay kA manny!!!!

Freddie boy May 1, 2011 at 11:11 pm

Mosley may be the thunder, but Manny is a lightning and remember lightning is always ahead of the thunder….. attn: medics!

robert May 2, 2011 at 12:43 pm

Manny is gonna win this one hands down. He is definitely on a different level now judging from the previous fights against Cotto and Margarito.

Now a Pacquiao-Marquez part III is long overdue. Eagerly waiting for a Pacquiao vs Marquez match. Now that would be a heck of a fight to watch.

Anita May 2, 2011 at 3:53 pm

Man that’s like Betty White fighting Michelle Rodriguez

Mr. Photographer May 2, 2011 at 9:12 pm

For me Shane Mosley would be like a picture on the wall for Manny. Like a picture that would just seem to be standing and not totally moving. I bet my million dollar money for Manny. With the punch accuracy of Manny, Shane’s face would be deformed. F*ck that Gayweather ChickenWeather, he is next if he won’t hide from his father’s panty. A father who would seem to have a vagina talking shit like a chicken.

Illy May 3, 2011 at 4:26 pm

Honestly, they both go hard. I think that pac man is a great fighter and I think he would kill mayweather BECAUSE mayweather is too cocky and obviously scared of pac man but at the same time i think that pacman will lose this fight. Mosley is a smart fighter and he has the heart to get back up after gettin dropped and brush it off. once he puts pac man on his ass, pac man is going to sh*t out all of his confidence and then get beat from there. either way to I wish them both good luck and I am gettin this fight. FLAT!

Illy May 3, 2011 at 4:29 pm

PS>>>faking confidence gets u hurt. Pac Man vs Mayweather= Pac Man standing in the 9th round with solja boy mayweather kissin the canvas. sorry

dlite-a-nig May 3, 2011 at 8:09 pm

Heck NO!!!

Wut a waste of hot dogs and popcorn.
Pacman, just take the drug test and fight MMW.

paul May 4, 2011 at 5:15 am

I did not here complaints like this when Mayweather chose Moseley over Pacman. He made every excuse not to fight Pacman so his undefeated record would stay intact.
Now he will have a criminal record instead for beating up women.
The peoples champion is Pacquioa. I rest my case!!!!!

None May 5, 2011 at 12:29 am

Im so tired of this bull crap. This is why the sport of boxing has died. The best figthers in the sport avoid each other and do these bull crap fights. Guess it all about money and pride. Eat the pride and money and one of you take a butt whiping.

Nicholas May 5, 2011 at 11:29 am

I think Pacman is going to whoop Shane Mosley although it will be a close fight. Mosley is quick, but I am not sure he will be able to keep up with Pacman who is quicker. Look for Mosley to start going to Pacman’s body early in the fight, and try to turn things around to his advantage. If Mosley can counter at the right time, this may be a surprise upset to a lot of Pacman’s fans.

riteaboutnow May 5, 2011 at 11:43 am

I would not pay to see this fight. I want to see Manny go against a younger fighter like Sergio Martinez.

YST713 May 5, 2011 at 4:55 pm

Pacman is gonna whoop sugars ass all over that ring come Saturday that fight is gonna be good to see somebody get smashed on haha Pacman should fight Victor Ortiz the fool who put Andre Berto on his ass more then twice how bout them

Jay May 5, 2011 at 5:37 pm

Consider the idea that Mosely comes into the ring prepared and in good shape to fight 8 rounds. Pac is vulnerable early in my opinion and the better shape that Mosely is in presents a risk for Pac. Sure Pac will have a fast, high output pace but unless he is capable of knocking Mosely out cold in the beginning he’s gonna have a fight on his hands. This fight will last and be competitive until Mosely’s legs give out? Therefore, if Pac is distracted in training and looks past Shane, that’s the problem that could cost him this fight. PAC is human and his butt can get knocked out if he underestimates Shane. In my opinion both of these fighters discipline and respect for this fight is going to be the real “punch” in this event. I believe Mosely will show up in shape and Pac will be Pac? I don’t believe Pac has been pushed by any of his recent opponents enough to show if his “new” armor has any dings in it? Praying that fight night will be the right night for Shane and he is capable of finishing the punishment if he gets the opportunity to impose himself on Pac when Pac gets impulsive and drops that right after exchanges!!!!

SL May 6, 2011 at 2:34 am

Mental ..Strategic.. Compared to the game .. “CHESS”
Boxing is a sport . Yes .. Boxers must be in outstanding physical condition to endure , Keep in mind …
Boxing is Strategic Thinking ..Mosely and Manny have unique boxing skills. Remember, One punch ! that is positioned on point can set up the loser. Both fighters have the potential to become the winner…

Dr. Clue May 6, 2011 at 2:08 pm

Hello bloggers and twitters,
I guess we’re all looking forward for tomorrow clash two great fighters. Me personally I’m looking forward to the Maywheather vs. Manny bout. Resently I’ve been reading a lot of negative chat, esspecially from manny fans. Let Manny take the damn blood test and if he’s not possitive call out Maywheather. A blood test is so easy, I perform them everyday on my patients, the human body create new blood everyday. So take the damn thing and if Maywheather backdown, then all you fans and Manny followers can shoot the shit talk. Personally I smell something fishy in Manny’s corner, because he’s surounded by crooks. Manny said he’s a man of god, I saw him praying before all his fights. But my last word to Manny is: (A true athlete) never backdown from a blood test!!!
